Meal Delivery Service
To be eligible for Meals on Wheels, individuals must be 60 years of age or older and unable to shop for food or prepare meals for themselves. In addition to homebound elders, Meals on Wheels also helps to feed those dealing with short-term illnesses or recuperating from hospitalizations.
Hot meals are provided Monday through Friday around the noon hour. If weekend meals are required, bag lunches are provided for Saturdays and frozen meals are provided for Sundays. All meals are nutritionally balanced and low sodium.
A private interview with the eligible senior and/or family is arranged within one week of the beginning of meal service to ascertain the unique needs of the individual. Meals on Wheels suggests a donation of $3.50 per meal to help defray costs. However, no senior is denied service based on inability to donate.
