Donation Opportunities
SOS Meals on Wheels receives federal funding under the Older Americans Act to help underwrite the cost of preparing and delivering meals. This federal support provides about $3.00 per meal while the actual cost to produce and deliver a meal is about $6.50. The additional $3.50 must come from local sources. Seniors are asked to donate if possible toward the cost of the service, however, no senior is denied service based on the inability to donate. On average, seniors provide about $1.30 per meal. Therefore, SOS Meals on Wheels must reach out to the community to close the gap between funding provided and funding needed.
You can support homebound seniors in the following ways:
$30 feeds a senior for one week
$60 feeds a senior for two weeks
$120 feeds a senior for one month
$240 feeds a senior for two months
$1,440 feeds a senior for a full year.
